Conflict and Communication

My latest column for the Baptist Standard is now available here. The basic take-away is this:

Thank goodness they actually talked to each other. Motives matter. The truth is, though, we never can know a person’s motives. Communication is essential to avoid needless war. When we feel threatened by the actions of others, we need to seek to understand their heart. I think it is one reason why Jesus stressed the need to go to a brother one on one as the first step in conflict resolution.
